App updates: Learnings from 1.5M Funda users

I am an iOS developer at funda, the largest real estate website in The Netherlands. I loves voicing my opinions on iOS architecture and best practises, all while furiously trying to avoid doing the wrong thing myself (sometimes in vain). In my spare time I play the drums and percussion. I live in Leiden with my wife and two cats.How do you convince 1.5 million to switch to an app when it is not even finished? We decided to rebuild our iOS and Android apps from scratch and put them in the store next to our old app. This not only provided us with some technical challenges but also allowed us the opportunity to take an extreme approach to testing: We let our users use a live but incomplete app.
I would love to tell you how and why we did this and what our experience is with this kind of approach. I will also give you a sneak peek into our architecture and how it allows us to build native but flexible apps.
