On Thursday 18th April, around 300 app experts will gather in Amsterdam Pathé De Munt for a day of learning and meeting new friends. In this post we’ll share some practical information regarding the conference day on Thursday 18th April.

Travel

pathearenaThe main conference is in Pathé De Munt. (Google Maps Link)

If you come by car, the nearest (paid) parkings are APCOA Prins en Keizer, Stadhuis Muziek Theater, Kalvertoren and Bank. Since parking in Amsterdam is expensive, we recommend using public transport instead. The nearest train station is Amsterdam Central Station and there are trams from the station to Muntplein (lines 4, 9, 14, 16, 24 and 25). The Pathe de Munt theatre is very close to Muntplein.

For general public transport advice, 9292.nl is a helpful site in Dutch and English.

Registration

We’ll open the doors at 8.45am, at which point we have 45 minutes to get everyone inside and registered. Here’s a heads-up so we can make the process as smooth as possible.

Bring your ticket, on your phone (preferred) or printed. (We may ask for an ID to confirm it’s your ticket). The badges will be sorted on firstname, look closely to check which registration desk will hold your badge. If you purchased a student ticket, also bring some proof that you are a student, such as a college card.

The conference is on the upper floor (follow signs to rooms 9-13)

When you enter the theater, you will find a registration desk to collect your badge. After registration there’s coffee and tea.

The conference

We start at 9.30am sharp. The schedule is published online but all badges have the schedule printed on them for convenience. You can also download the Appril festival apps (for Android and iOS). There is free WiFi so you can look up talk abstracts (but it’s useful to read the abstracts before you go to the conference to plan your day).

Code of Conduct

We have adopted a code of conduct that helps us make the conference a welcome and safe place for everyone. You can find the code of conduct here.

The Appril Festival After Party

When the conference ends, we will head over to Escape Lounge at Rembrandtplein 15 (walking distance from the conference, turn right twice from the conference venue). Take your appril badge, as they will check this at the entrance. Every attendee will get 2 drink tickets for free)!

Feedback and help

Throughout the day, if you need any help, find any of the Appril people (we wear bright red shirts) or Egeniq people (we wear egeniq shirts); we’ll be monitoring Twitter as well (follow @apprilNL on twitter for up to the minute information).

Photo’s

Our photographers will take pictures and/or videos for use on social media, our site and marketing purposes. If you do not want to be photographed in a recognizable way, please request an orange sticker at registration and put it on your badge or clothes visibly

That’s all!

We hope this post gives you a heads-up of what to expect on Thursday. We hope you all have at least as much fun as we had organizing the conference!

See you on Thursday,
Jacqueline and Ivo
